River Farm

A true farmhouse on 100 acres along the James River, this home features wood ceilings and shelving milled and crafted by the client from a few oak and walnut trees which couldn’t be saved. This wonderful home embodies hard work and a spirit of family, gathering, and love. Grandkid-proof finishes and fabrics abound.

This living room opens to the kitchen, a covered porch and dining room to provide an ideal spot for hosting all sorts of gatherings.

The client's collection of china on display.

Incomparable views surround this dining room. It doesn't hurt that the space opens to a grill area, outdoor dining, and a covered porch making it the best place to throw a dinner party.

A small entry lives large with oversized lighting and views to rooms beyond.

A classic kitchen with pops of blue and brass keeps things interesting. Performance fabric on the barstools means they stand up to the grandkids.

The main bedroom is a study in classic patterns and tranquil colors. The view beyond further promotes restful relaxation.

We used the passthrough to the main bedroom suite to house a very functional pocket office. The custom cabinetry features hidden wireless charging and pop up power outlets, while the towers hide all the less-pretty items like a printer and file storage.

A living area upstairs make the perfect spot to snuggle in with the grandkids when they visit. We used the client's existing furniture and added in a few cheerful pops (like the rug) to bring it all together.

A mudroom in a cheerful, but restrained, blue provides a place for everything as you enter from the garage.

The guest powder is a little preppier--the graphic pop of the wallcovering is perfect!
